Keep your Play Naturally Creative with Doughlicious!

As a small business ourselves, we have huge respect for any other parents who take the huge leap to set up their own family run business... especially on top of the chaos that is parenthood! Genevive and Dana, both Moms with creative girls,  did exactly that when they decided to set up Doughlicious- A Natural Playdough Company. Today they are telling us a little about their journey, and also how their product is all natural and aims to help parents in their quest to raise healthy happy kids. How we started...

Doughlicious-A Natural Playdough Company began from our girls' love of creative play. At the company's inception, the highest priority was given to creating a product that was not only a delight for the senses, but also completely safe for little hands to touch and harmless if consumed by accident.

Safety first...

The dyes used in our playdough are all plant based, derived directly from plants, seeds, and vegetables. To maximize a child's sensory experience while playing with our playdough, we added scents. A chemical free option was paramount which lead us to essential oils and all natural flavor oils.

As parents ourselves, we can attest to the priority so many parents give to providing their children with playthings that are truly safe. In a creative household where art supplies and sensory activities are readily available, children are potentially exposed to harmful chemicals everyday.

Have you ever really considered what is in the markers that undeniably end up covering both their skin and their paper? Although research on the extent of the harm these materials do to us and our children isn't entirely clear, we value eliminating as many toxins as possible from our everyday lives. Toxins are all around us but we want to do our best to protect our children. Reducing exposure to materials that could negatively impact the health of our children will only have a positive result on their overall well-being throughout the course of time.

Why we love playdough...

Playdough is an age old favorite for children in homes and preschools, but why? It can be both mesmerizing and calming for children to squish it between their fingers and roll it in their hands. It provides focus in a world where distractions are everywhere. Setting up a simple invitation to play which can include some playdough, figures and loose parts like gems and rocks, can provide hours of open-ended play. With open-ended play, there are no real rules, unless they're safety related, and there's no beginning and no end. One child's fairy garden could be another's gnome playground. We love that our product can help children to explore their imaginations- the possibilities are endless!

Playdough can be seen as a material geared more toward younger children, but children of all ages can use playdough, both for creative play and for learning. Setting up math equations, molding the words from the weekly spelling list, and playing games, are all ways children can learn through play. In a world where the rigors of academics have encroached on even the youngest of children, why not try learning through play at home to lighten their load? We promise your kids will love a hands on approach to education!
