Instagram is such a powerful play based learning resource! Here are Creative QT's favorite STEAM based accounts to follow and be inspired by!
This is a fun interactive account where each week there is a STEAM theme. Followers are encouraged to post their STEAM based activities for the theme, with the favorites being shared on the @steamkidschallenge account. It is a great hub of creativity and ideas if you are looking to incorporate more STEAM activities into your play based learning time. It is also a fun community to be part of, with the opportunity to communicate with like-minded parents!
We've even been lucky enough to feature on their account with our DUPLO Shadow Theatre!
We love this bright and beautiful account which is full of creative games and activities. You can often find DUPLOs being featured in Mathematics activities, as well as simple engineering challenges for toddlers. What we love most is the simplicity of the activities- they are easy to set up and can be used for kids of different ages. Go check it out!
Andrea is a Mom to 4 inquisitive boys. Her account features awesome STEAM based activity videos starring her kids. We've gained so many great ideas from this account. It has simple crafts, quick science experiments, fun Math challenges and so much more!
Cara from @hello.moonpie is one of the most energetic personalities you'll meet in the creative community. Her feed is brimming with art projects that encourage her 5 year old to freely express herself. Cara is always coming up with brilliant new ways to manipulate everyday materials into artistic masterpieces! She's also a whizz at book-based art projects!
Anne is the master of all things STEAM related! She is a co-founder of the STEAM Kids movement who has released some awesome books full of ideas for STEAM based activities. We highly recommend you check out the website! She is also part of the @steamkidschalenge team. We were super excited when Anne decided to use one of our Peel 'n Stick Baseplates to make this awesome LEGO Storage Cart!
Liz is a teacher turned stay at home Mom who has a real passion for the STEAM approach to education. Her play based learning ideas are simple and easy to replicate, often using everyday items in a refreshingly creative way! We love how hands on her activities are, with the focus completely being on learning from the process, rather than the end result. Definitely worth checking out!!
Amber is another enthusiastic member of the STEAM Kids team. She runs Figment Creative Lab where she runs private art lessons..... but they are so much more than just art lessons. You have to take a peak at her feed to see what a crazy array of activities she conjures up for her students, and her own kids as well. One of our personal favorites (perhaps we are being a little biased!!) was when she used our Peel 'n Stick Baseplates to create a Christmas Tree LEGO Wall!
Luisa is a master at combining her own educational background in Chemistry with STEAM based activities for her littles, who she affectionally refers to as her tiny nerds! Think potions, think sensory exploration, think hands on science! Her beautiful pictures really capture how inviting her set ups are, be sure to sneak a peak!
Okay so maybe we are being a little biased! But we are huge advocates of the STEAM approach and often feature some really fun activities that we think your kiddos would love! LEGO play is a huge one for us, as we continue to always try and come up with fresh new ways to learn with building bricks. We'd love for you to follow along with our journey!
We cannot say enough good things about the above accounts. Be sure to give them all a follow and test out some fun STEAM based activities with your kiddos!

Shared materials are a thing of the past this school year so we've been getting creative with ways to make individual learning resources with our products. In this blog we share how to use ourStoryBricks® andPeel 'n Stick Baseplates to turn a small $1 container into a multi-purpose learning box which fits conveniently inside a student's desk.
Hoping to give your kids a great play table to create on whilst also solving the never-ending problem of storing building bricks? We've got a great IKEA hack for you which ticks both play and storage boxes!
