DIY IKEA HACK! Magnetic LEGO Compatible Table
Looking to add a LEGO compatible play table to your living room or toy room, but needing to keep things modern and minimalistic? We've got you covered! Build your own Magnetic LEGO Compatible Table with the IKEA YPPERLIG Coffee Table, a Creative QT Peel 'n Stick Baseplate and a few dollar store magnetic storage containers. This simple, yet stylish and functional, LEGO Compatible Table is perfect to inspire the most creative of little building brick enthusiasts.
Materials Needed:
- IKEA YPPERLIG Coffee Table, $39.99
- Creative QT Peel 'n Stick Baseplate (we used 10" x 10", 1 pack, Gray, $10.95)
- Jot Magnetic Round Metal Containers, 3.75 in. (we got ours from the Dollar Tree for, yup you guessed it, $1 each!)
- Building Bricks (we used LEGO brand)
- Utility or craft knife
- Nylon electrical tape (used to add grip around top of tins for a more secure fit with the lid)

Coffee table assembly-
The great thing about the YPPERLIG coffee table is that it is SUPER easy to assemble. Here are the IKEA instructions in case you want a peak.
Apply some pressure-
When you stick down the Peel 'n Stick baseplate, be sure to apply some pressure so that the adhesive contacts the table surface fully.
Prevent brick spillages-
The magnetic tins are what you would expect for a $, so we've got a little trick to help make them more secure. Wrap a thin layer of the nylon electrical tape around the top of the container. This provides some extra grip for the lid and stops the brick spillages.
