Get Messy with LEGOs: Underwater World

This blog is part of a five day 'Get Messy with LEGOs Challenge'. See the overview blog here.

Our kids love playing with water so we figured why not embrace their passion and challenge them to some underwater LEGO creating?!

  • Large container (we used a storage container from Walmart costing $4)
  • 2 x Creative QT Blue Peel 'n Stick Baseplates

Instructions:

The great thing about our Peel 'n Stick Baseplates is that they have construction grade adhesive on them. This means they are waterproof and will stick for good! Hence we had the crazy idea to stick them to the bottom of a storage container for some underwater building brick play! To stick them down simply make sure the bottom of the container is dry and a flat surface, peel off the backing and stick them down with even pressure. It is recommended to leave them for 24 hrs before adding the water.

Fill your container with some water and put out a fun selection of bricks for your kids to explore. Our testers loved the novelty of building in the water!

It was great to see them carefully planning their underwater creations.

Both kids thought it was really fun building underwater homes and vehicles for some of the sea creatures.

We took this idea one step further when we made a LEGO-Compatible Fish Tank! Read the blog to see how much fun the kids had building LEGOs in a full size fish tank as well!
