LEGO Play Solutions for the Classroom
Looking to incorporate more building brick play and learning into your classroom? Here's a comprehensive round-up of how our LEGO Compatible products are being used in classrooms around the country.
Our adhesive baseplates are ideal for bringing those dreamy DIY building brick projects to life for your classroom. It really is as easy as peeling off the red backing and sticking them down - that's it! Available in nine colors, you can create the exact makerspace you know that your students will love.
We've seen some epic Peel 'n Stick projects from teachers around the country. From entire corridor LEGO Compatible play walls, to multi-level land form building stations, teachers are creating the exact play spaces they need. For some teachers this simply means using a 4-pack of baseplates to make a LEGO Compatible play table.
We've also seen teachers creating small building containers for their class as quiet time activities. Sometimes in the chaos of the school day, students and teachers both need a little play break. After all, children learn best through play! If you want to look at more inspiring Peel 'n Stick Baseplate ideas, be sure to check out the 'DIY Projects' tag on our blog. We especially recommend the DIY Makerspaces blog and Inspiring Building Brick Projects for your Classroom blog.
Don't have time for DIY projects or need something removeable? The PlayUp Wall is the answer!
Our PlayUp Wall is a LEGO-Compatible, fully assembled wall panel perfect for fostering STEAM learning and creative, vertical play. With no assembly required, this product is a total winner for teachers and students. It keeps LEGO style bricks off the classroom floor, and it also encourages a whole new level of creativity and play. Available in gray, green and blue and in two sizes- large (24" x 34") and extra large (34" x 44").
One of the most loved features of the PlayUp Wall by teachers is that it provides such a large play area. Multiple children can collaborate on their creations, which encourages communication, teamwork, sharing and of course patience.
Most teachers describe the PlayUp Wall as being a hub of creativity in their classroom or media center. Students love the novelty of working on a vertical surface, the excitement in the room is always so evident. It is also a great way for students to work on their fine motor skills and gross motor skills, encouraging core strength development as well.
With such a large working area, the possibilities are endless for learning. Mathematical graphs, functional writing opportunities, geographical land forms or even scientific solar systems. What would your students create?
Our latest addition to the baseplate collection are these versatile magnetic building boards. They stick to any magnetic surface and are compatible with DUPLOs and LEGOs. We cannot stress how ideal these are for classrooms because they aren't permanent! You can use them on whiteboards, filing cabinets, even on the back of doors, they'll adhere to any magnetic surface. Available in gray, green or blue and in single or 4-packs, they are the ideal solution for a flexible makerspace.
Allowing students to have ownership of their learning is a powerful tool. We love how teachers are letting kids arrange the MagPlates into new configurations and color combinations so that the makerspace is exactly how they want it.
Once the makerspace is up, students are enjoying plenty of time and space to simply create and collaborate. As with any large makerspace, there is the opportunity for students to communicate and work together on their builds. These are such important social skills to develop. We love how @babyatplay had the great idea to take her MagPlates outside!
We've also heard how some teachers are choosing to use their MagPlates as single learning panels on the whiteboard along with whiteboard markers. This is a great set up for working on numeracy and literacy. Hands-on learning is a sure fire way to get kids motivated and engaged with their learning. Even a simple LEGO calendar in your classroom will get your students working on their numeracy!
